Twinhead Corporation, a global leader in design, manufacturing and sales of portable computers, today announced the new rugged mobile clinical assistant (MCA) to it’s product line. The mobile clinical assistant (MCA) is a category of mobile computing platform developed by Intel® to be a new usage model that is customized for healthcare-specific use at the point of care, supporting the workflow of nurses and clinicians. This DigiHeal T10Y MCA integrates technology from Intel® Health.

With your MCA you will be able to organize and access important clinical information anywhere, anytime. In addition, you will be able to use the biometric fingerprint reader or authenticate your badge with the RFID reader.

Designed for the clinical environment

DigiHeal T10Y MCA is built for the rigors of the clinical environment, whether that is a ward, clinic or emergency room. Adaptations for the clinical environment include:

• A lightweight, clipboard-like mobile PC with an ergonomic handle is easy for clinicians to carry and use throughout their shift.
• Sealed and rugged exterior case is drop-resistant and spill-proof, enabling the MCA to be easily wiped clean with disinfectant to reduce the spread of germs as nurses and physicians move among patients.
• A generous screen display minimizes scrolling and eye strain.

Built to optimize workflow

To streamline medication administration and charting, the MCA reference design integrates technologies that support "five rights" of medication administration and can provide for more streamlined and efficient workflows.

• With a built-in bar-code scanner, the MCA becomes a practical tool for matching each patient with the treatment being delivered, helping reduce medication-dispensing errors.
• Using a radio frequency identification (RFID) in the MCA design, nurses can identify patients and verify themselves as authorized caregivers.
• Integrated digital camera to enhance patient charting and progress notes, and to document wounds and injuries.
• Wireless connectivity to access up-to-date secure patient information and physician’s orders at the bedside or point of care.

Performance inside and out

The tough exterior of the Digiheal T10Y are matched by superior performance inside. Powered by Intel Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology, the Digiheal T10Y features a Intel® Core™ Duo processor Ultra Low Voltage U2100, 1.06 ~1.2Ghz Processor with 3G optional upgradeable. The T10Y comes with a bright clear antiglare 10.4” Touch screen XGA with Static Storage Drive(SSD) or a normal HDD storage with a built in 2 megapixel webcam. It supports both Microsoft XP Tablet or Vista Operating System environment with a lightweight of 1.2Kg only. For security and identity protection, the unit features a barcode scanner, RFID reader and one fingerprint reader. Finally, the slick and stylish design of T10Y have two distinctive special features of “hotswap” battery in protecting your data in the event there are any extreme low battery power without switching off the machine and the device enclosed can resist alcohol (80% or less), bleach, iodine and common hospital disinfections with an ingress protection of IP 54 for shock, drop and spill resistance.
